Meet Amer - The Heart of the Dhofar Mountains

Everyone knows Salalah for its waterfalls, beaches and green mountains. Yet very few visitors ever encounter what truly matters here: the people who have lived in these mountains for generations.
We want to change that.
Amer is not an actor, nor is he a guide dressed up for tourists.
He was born and raised in the mountains of Dhofar. He still lives in his traditional village, wears the local mountain dress and knows these customs not from books, but because they are part of his everyday life.
His story has attracted so much attention that the BBC once came to film a feature about him.
Together with Amer, we have created a new experience — one that is almost impossible to find on a conventional tour of Oman.
You will visit a real mountain village in Dhofar, where old stone houses and a way of life entirely different from the rest of Oman have survived. The people here have their own language, their own cuisine and traditions found nowhere else in the country.
Local residents will welcome you into the village, invite you to try on traditional Dhofari mountain clothing and explain how these houses were once built from stone and wood, without modern tools or machinery.
You will also hear Al Nanaa, an ancient Dhofari singing tradition performed by a local resident.
Afterwards, Amer will take you to the camel farm.
There you'll have the chance to:
• Feed the camels.
• Try milking one yourself.
• Taste fresh camel milk.
• Watch the traditional preparation of Madhbeesh - a unique Dhofari camel milk drink made using hot stones, just as it has been for generations.
• Enjoy it together with traditional local bread.
This isn't a show created for visitors.
It's an invitation into a living culture that very few travelers ever experience.
Because sometimes the most unforgettable part of a journey isn't the landscape.
It's the people who call it home.
