Funnel Cave is one of Oman’s most spectacular underground adventures. The journey begins with a dramatic 140-meter rappel into a natural funnel, leading into a hidden world of water pools, narrow passages, and crystal formations. Inside, explorers will discover the breathtaking crystal chamber before exiting through the impressive Tahry Cave system.
This tour combines technical rope work with hiking and water crossings, making it a demanding but unforgettable adventure for those ready to go deep beneath the Salma Plateau.

Itinerary:
🚙 5:00 AM – Pick-up from your location in Muscat
Our guides will pick you up from your location in Muscat. Enjoy an early morning drive toward the mountains in comfortable 4×4 vehicles.
🎒 7:00 AM – Arrival & start of the adventure
The adventure begins with a rappel descent into Funnel Cave, leading into a spectacular underground canyon system.
Along the way you will experience:
140m abseiling through vertical cave sections
Underground exploration through narrow passages
Natural water pools inside the cave
Multiple rappels and technical sections with guide support
💎 11:00 AM – Crystal chamber visit
Reach the stunning crystal chamber, one of the highlights of the cave system, before continuing toward the exit through Tahry Cave.
👢 3:00 PM – Exit at Tahry Cave & canyon hike
After exiting the cave system, hike ~4 km along Tahry Canyon back to the vehicles.
🚙 5:00 PM – End of adventure & return drive to Muscat
The adventure concludes and we begin the drive back to Muscat.
Important Notes:
✓ Rappelling: Participants must be comfortable with rope descents. The tour includes 4 drops ranging from 10 to 140 meters.
✓ Swimming: The cave has water pools to cross. Basic swimming ability is required. Life jackets will be provided if required.
✓ Underground Terrain: Expect narrow passages, slippery rocks, and uneven ground. Participants should feel confident in confined and dark spaces.
✓ Wildlife Awareness: Cave environments may include bats or insects. They are harmless but part of the natural habitat.
